WAYS TO GET INVOLVED!

Currently, there is a Civic Assembly taking place to determine how the now city-owned land that formerly held the Hughes Stadium will be used, within the constraints of the 2021 ballot measure:

The 2021 ballot measure required the City to rezone the Hughes site as “Public Open Lands” and also directed the City to acquire the property for uses including parks, recreation, open lands, natural areas, and wildlife rescue and restoration.

This process ensures input is captured from the community as a whole, that diverse voices are heard, and allows a "jury" of 20 randomly selected delegates to provide a recommendation to City Council on next steps for this community space.

We were invited to present to the assembly, and advocated for Hughes as a multi-use park & open space based on the consistent input we've heard from the community, including other collaborative interest groups.

A small group is making a push to stop the community's broad and shared desire for a multi-use park & open space, including a bike park, at the Hughes property. They are using falsehoods to gather signatures across the city in order to put this on the ballot, nullify the collaborative Civic Assembly process, and silence your voices & the voices of your neighbors.

A bike park is an amazing opportunity for local families, businesses, and the Fort Collins economy. Not only will this provide a space that gives our kids, and the community as a whole, a safe place to ride but it will also support local outdoor tourism, making FoCo an even more desirable location for top talent. Investing in recreation like this isn’t just good for our quality of life — it’s good business. Studies show that mountain bike infrastructure boosts local economies, attracts high-value employees, and increases home values.
